Proxy-Mode see's HTTP, HTTPS, and IM protocol traffic only for the clients configured to direct their traffic to iPrism. Clients can be configured to proxy to iPrism individually, or using Active-Directory Group Policy. Other protocols, such as FTP or SMTP traffic, that do NOT have an iPrism Destination-IP address are ignored by iPrism.
Bridge-Mode see's ALL network traffic due to its "in-line" installation. Kernel Layer Filtering will block or allow HTTP, HTTPS, IM and P2P protocol traffic. Other traffic, such as FTP or SMTP, is passed through iPrism un-touched. In an in-line configuration, all packets must be briefly examined since the Destination-IP address is not used to discard packets.
