Application Layer Filtering is the tried-and-true filtering that has always been used in iPrism, using processes/code running in the user context, rather than the kernel context.
Application Layer Filtering is what all iPrism 3.x users rely on whether configured for Bridge, Routing, or Proxy Mode. When upgrading to iPrism 4.1, Kernel Level Filtering will transparently take the place of Application Layer Filtering for those users configured in Bridge Mode. Those who retain Proxy Mode will continue to rely on Application Level Filtering.
Note: Routing Mode users will need to re-configure their iPrism to use Bridge or Proxy mode.
